Sounds decent

I'm going to start reviewing your stuff more harshly because you seem to have levelled up to the next level of music making ;)

The riff, rhythm, drum beat etc. are all great and there are many strong points about the song but listing these in every review will take me a long time so I'm just gonna get down to what you need to improve.

At 2:42, instead of having that synth play that melody have a light piano do it with a delay on it, try that and you will see how good it sounds :)

You need to take away the power from the synth, the emphasis of hip hop style music is usually on the drum beat, its what drives the song, so perhaps make the synth quieter at parts

Theres slight clashing at 0:36, sort out the volumes and it will sound much better

Apart from these and perhaps slight arrangement problems/preferences it sounds pretty decent mate :) normally i would give 10/10 but now im reviewing harsher for your own benefit

LedZeppelinluver180 responds:

HA HA yes! sweet dood thanks that means a lot that you think i have leveled up in my music making... i took a lot of what you have told me and that has helped me a so much man so yeah thanks a bunch and i will try that stuff out and ill re-post this song sometime in the near future

sounds pretty "badman"

yo dude, sorry i havent been replying to anything lately or reviewing your stuff, been really busy, but thanks for checking out my songs, really appreciate it, anyway, on with the review:

the melodies work very nicely together and the instruments are great, i like the style of the drum pattern, it has a nice rhythm, i think that you should add a more powerful snare at some point to give it more of a punch like songs from the dubstep genre, perhaps have it more punchy on the second snare cos its dum dum snare dum dum dum snare or something at the moment, make it dum dum snare dum dum dum SNARE, and this will give it more power

what you need to work on also is the arrangement of the song.
heres what i would have done

1) when you introduce the instrument at 0:24, bring it in from quieter to louder but instead of arpeggiated version, make it a single note one so it can build up with a clear sound, then perhaps arpeggiate it just before the drop, get rid of the beat from the beginning up till 0:41 where you bring it in from a quiet to full blown. at 0:48 have a slight pause, then bam incomes the full blown beat with the emphasis on the snare i mentioned earlier, also vary up the melodies in the early parts, you can be really experimental during the build up and show your skill here but when the beat gets going it must be constantly the same/similar to keep it flowing

just take some of it into consideration, it may or may not sound better, and sorry i havent been keeping in touch, youve really improved and this is a banging tune :)

good stuff, keep it up mate

LedZeppelinluver180 responds:

Pretty nice

I like the melodies and the power you've given to the stings, the randomness really stands out and I think that's a pretty good thing :) Only real criticism I have is to perhaps make it longer :D Keep up the work dude, lemme know when you've started the collab thingy mabob :)

halfangelfreak responds:

Little do you know, I've started the collab thing already.

Thanks, for the review, and I'll work on making them longer.

BTW, I took your advice, and now I'm working on more songs with actual main melodies, like this. (With a pinch of randomness, that's just my style)

Very creative

The guitar riffs are very nice and the backing strings accompany it very nicely, nice immersing entrance to the song, really captures the mood right from the beginning :) Then an almost voice like pad comes in around 0:50 which just makes it even more creepy xD and then the floating space like instrument! Wow dude, great stuff. You could make it even cooler by adding some uber drum beat at the end in like a remix version or something :P Good stuff, keep it up.

enders1 responds:

thanks for the input man, glad you enjoyed the whole thing. I was thinking about some drum beat and some times but I suck at adding drums patterns so I focused on doing it all with just my guitar.

Another perfect chill out song

Well done again mate, really good stuff. The piano is very nice, the beat is very chilled out and the effects you have used on the instruments make it vibrant and colourful :D The melodies are top notch too, well done :)

Very professional

Has a very unique feel to it, the melodies are great and keep evolving, top notch stuff, well done mate :)

mjattie responds:

hey thanks man ;)

Has a nice vibe to it :)

Would fit nicely for a game like sims or something like the guy below said but thats a good thing :P Well done mate, keep up the good work :D

Has a lot of potential

The way the melodies just come in and out is very cool, you need to develop volume control and vary the velocity of each note so that it gives it a realistic effect :) Add a beat in there aswell, could give it a real umph and make it more powerful. Make it longer too, if you want some help with it just set me a pm or something :) Keep up the work :D

halfangelfreak responds:

Thanks, this one is really meant to be shifty, because it's the opening theme to an RPG I'm making, it has an anime opening, and the parts are meant to match what's going on, but I might extend it.

Sounds awesome

I know how hard collabs are, one guy disagrees with something the other doesn't have the software blah blah but you guys have really pulled off something epic here. Thanks for letting me know this existed :) The piano is very beautifully crafted and orchestrated and the melodies just speak for themselves :D oh wow, the beat just came in, very nice, wasn't expecting that lol. Ye all in all a great song, the drum patterns are really superb, just a bit of tweaking for volume levels needed here and there, apart from that its great, I wish you the best of luck getting this song out there :D

ObsidianSnow responds:

Cool, your input is really appreciated.

Thanks a lot, Jewelz!

Back in the flow of things!
