Yes! Breakbeat style is always welcome. Nice ambience to the track but I'm especially feeling the breakbeat esque drums. Or is it more drum and bass feel come to think of it?

Anyway, cool dude.

Any plans for a longer version?

Edit: the 1:14 melody trill is very nice!

Nice vocals! Starts off very ambient with some subtle power in there too. I got one of the UFC countdown episodes on in the background and damn does the song fit perfectly. Israel Adesanya is shadowboxing in some field, it fits damn well!

The ambience is really smashing it out the park so far.

Nice drop. You've ticked the boxes well. Only criticism would be that it sounds a bit messy in terms of mixing. Like there's not much space for anything / doesn't sound clean, even though dubstep isn't really clean in its sound.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Need anymore feedback just lemme know.

Peace

Groovy. Right off the bat, I'd say your sax is a smidge loud. Nice groove to the piece though. Almost as if your instruments are conversing! That sax roll at 42 seconds is A++

Haven't heard the original but this is very nice. Has a sweet tone to it too.

Something chirpy about it. Sounds fitting for a TV show of sorts, perhaps as an intro theme or credit roll if we are back in the 90s or so.

Good stuff dude and nice performance all round.

Did you play all the instruments yourself? If so, nice!!

Anymore reviews, send me a pm. Peace.

The piano is very romantic indeed! Or is it the sax? Maybe both tbh!

Interesting piece. I'd say on my amateur non-classical ears, the bits where there's a slight pause / change in cadence, sounds almost like someone is stopping to take a look at the notation for the next section, or prepare themselves. It doesn't quite flow.

1:47 is absolutely crazy when the piano goes off on one. It sounds like the piano is worlds apart in terms of level to the sax, yet the sax is taking the foreground. The piano parts imo > the sax parts. Where your piano sounds like grade 5 or 6 and your sax grade 3 or so.

Keep it up though dude! Sorry if my review sounds a tad on the critical side. Your piano is fantastic and should definitely have more of the spotlight till the sax skills catch on.

Any other tracks need reviewing, just gimme a pm. Peace.

Dude your waveform scares me. What did you do in the latter parts of the song that made it go so loud?

Anyway. your intro have a very Gameboy Advance feel to it. Definitely fitting into a 8Bit RPG style game.

You should drop the volume of your track overall though dude. Actually doesn't sound that distorted, considering the waveform is so flat.

The track reminds me more of a Town Square setting on something like Pokemon, or a credit roll. Could actually be a credit roll to the end of an arcade game of sorts.

Just a heads up for future though, if your track goes over 0db it distorts. And if you max out the volume of your track you lose a lot of dynamic content / punch. Better to upload something is quieter but doesn't kill the dynamics than it is to upload a really loud track that either distorts or maxes out the waveform completely as yours has done in the later parts.

Keep at it though dude. You have some interesting melodies, and good selection on synths / sounds.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those melodies are absolutely beautiful dude. Lovely composition.

My feedbacks would be:
- Watch the reverb on the lower end bits between 40 - 60 seconds. What works on higher end bits, sounds muddy and drowns out the content of your composition.
- You can up the low end of the reeverb, to deal with the above issue (not sure if you've tried already).
- Not always necessary but some tonal changes would be nice when your dynamics change. Especially in the slower sections of the song like after the mid bit around 2:10ish. Explained this poorly, but what I mean is that pedal on the piano which sort of low passes the sound so it sounds ducked behind something / squished.
- Not sure if the track is supposed to have a specific theme or melody to work with, or if it's narrating a scene of sorts. If the former, then perhaps have a slight contrast in the piano style, reverb, space, or something else, perhaps even a different piano, play the melody of the song that needs remembering. At the moment, after two listens, I couldn't hum back the melodies in the song. I guess it's my simpleton brain, which just struggles with the complexities of such a delicate piece. Anyway dude, just my two cent.

All the best. Shoot me a PM if you want me to check out another piece.

Peace.

p.s. You are pro with the piano!

Holy moly! Look at the size of that wave file! Truly a mammoth!

Ok here we go, starting off with some feel good vibes and a groovy, head moovy style rhythm.

Liking it. Nice breakdown and some funky melody works around 0:45 to lead us into the drop on the horizon. Bam, snackle and pop! Yes! Very smooth transition into the drop. So seemless and those melodies are juicy as heck.

Around 1:40, you could bring that backing instrument more into the foreground, like you did at 1:55, let the listener warp a bit more into the other worlds.

Good luck with the EP by the way! Still listening, second drop incoming. Yes. NICE! The glitchy dub bits are juicy as heck. Love glitchy stuff done well and this sir is very decent.

Overall a very nice track and a memorable melody. Good stuff!

Haven't really got any tips for improvement dude, my critical brain kinda switched off and jammed along to the track. Only bit would be to repeat the above and bring in that backing instrument, with energy, 8 bars or so earlier, when the song is still in its peak, to warp / teleport the listener almost, then lead them gently into the next section and bobs your uncle. Difficult to explain but right there it would have sit perfectly because the melody had repeated already quite a few times, it would have complemented it nicely.

Good work though dude and if you want anymore reviews of tracks, or want me to check out the EP, gimme a pm. Peace.

RyanBlaneyOfficial responds:

Dude thank you so much for the feedback. I'll be sure to send you some other tracks to review.

Smashed it out the park dude!!!

Fantastic singing and a feel good vibe :)

Bravo good sir.

Edit: your voice reminds me of Oasis a bit!

Sounds groovy as heck dude. Liking the synth switchup at 1 min. Could hit a bit harder there though, volumewise anyway. The intro synth sits too loud compared with the drop synth at 1 min. Takes away from the power of the drop.

Cool stuff though dude, that melody repeats a lot without becoming annoying as the backgroung stuff switches up a lot. Sooner or later you gotta drop the melody out though dude, for a 4 min piece it does get a smidge repetitive.

Hope this feedback is useful and hit me up if you want anymore reviews :)

Nyctophilia responds:

Aw thanks man that really helps! It certainly is useful, and thanks for the positivity! :)

Havent heard the original, any chance of lyrics?

Sounds nice dude, well played and nice singing but I cant make out the words :(

Did you record it all together or separate? If separate, a dash of EQ boost for the vocals and the opposite for the guitar could do wonders. Not sure if its that or the decay but something is making the vocals not quite stand out, especially towards the end of every 4th bar or so.

DFerociousbeast responds:

i put all the tracks through their own separate lofi preset that i made on an amp simulator. i think i ran the vocals and the guitar through one making it lost in its compression. I appreciate the feedback, thanks

Back in the flow of things!
